SMOB Educational and Early Career Group

On December 2025, the SMOB has established the Educational and Early Career Group
  • Connect young professionals across disciplines in a national network
  • Support education and innovation in obesity medicine
  • Reinforce research opportunities and evidence-based treatment of obesity
  • Challenge stigma and misconceptions surrounding obesity
  • Strengthen the future of multidisciplinary obesity care in Switzerland
  • Currently during training years, or early years (< 5y) as a consultant. The upper age limit for eligibility is 45 years of age. SMOB strongly encourages applications from different linguistic regions and institutional settings.
  • Fluent English language use, which will serve as the group’s official working language.
  • Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration in obesity care. Representation is strongly encouraged across all following disciplines: surgery, endocrinology, nutrition, gastroenterology, psychiatry, general practitioners, nurses.
  • Interest in contributing to the design and implementation of training and educational programs within SMOB.

The group members are selected following an open call to all SMOB members and obesity-related societies in Switzerland. The mandate is set for a period of 2 years and is renewable, provided that eligibility criteria continue to be met.

The current SMOB Educational and Early Career Group was appointed in February 2026, following an open call in December 2025. The next call will be launched in December 2027.
